+ Light up, Longboat, for this year’s contest
O little town of Longboat Key …
It’s time for The Longboat Observer’s annual “Light Up the Keys” contest. Soon, Longboat Key will be getting a whole lot brighter as homes, businesses and condominiums light up with holiday decorations.
From Dec. 7 through Dec. 11, Observer staffers will hit the road in search of the Key’s most spirited decorations. This year will feature categories of condominiums of more than 100 units and condominiums of fewer than 100 units for first-through-third prizes. Condominiums, along with single-family homes and commercial businesses, can compete for the “Publisher’s Choice” award.
So, get in the spirit and you could win the best gift of all: a picture of your holiday spirit in The Longboat Observer.

IN THE KITCHEN WITH: Cosimo's
This week we went in the kitchen at Cosimo's with owner John Ganley as chef Alfredo prepares two signature pizzas, the margherita and the quattro formaggi. Get the recipes and watch an instructional video in this week's 'In the Kitchen.'
Paint the town red and green
This year, we won’t just be on the lookout for the most festive holiday lights on the Key. We’ll be on the prowl for anything that embodies the happiness of the holidays with our new “Spirit of the Season” contest.
