Hear ye, hear ye.
Sarasota Mayor Suzanne Atwell has proclaimed that Nov. 11 be known as Sally and Sam Shapiro Day.
Atwell made the proclamation at a “get acquainted” dinner at the Longboat Key Club and Resort in honor of the Longboat Key couple’s seed money donation for a new, 12,000-square-foot Sarasota County Children’s Health Center. Since their donation, Sarasota County, the Selby Foundation and Betty Schoenbaum have stepped up with additional funds.
The Sally and Sam Shapiro Babies’ and Children’s Medical Center is now two-thirds funded and could break ground as early as late 2013.
