Woody Wolverton felt outnumbered. The Longboat Key resident and former University of Oklahoma Sooners linebacker sat wearing his team’s jersey in a sea of University of Miami Hurricanes fans Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Miami-Oklahoma football game in Miami. Next to him was Bob Stanley, former wide receiver for the Hurricanes and manager of the Longboat Key Coldwell Banker Previews office. The Hurricanes pulled ahead at the end of the game, winning 21-20.
Stanley was excited but tried not to gloat.
“I tempered it so as not to jeopardize my ride home,” he joked.
But Stanley reports that Wolverton accepted the loss with grace.
“Woody was a true sportsman,” he said.
