Longboat Key resident welcomed back after being on the mend

St. Mary, Star of the Sea, parishioner Lilia Mahoney received a warm welcome back from fellow parishioner Cathy Pasternak last week. Mahoney was seriously injured in a car accident June 6, on Alligator Alley, near Miami. Her husband, Thomas, was driving the car when a tire blew out, sending the car crashing into a utility pole. He was not injured. After weeks in the hospital and in rehabilitation learning how to walk again, Mahoney finally returned to her Longboat Key home last week. Still on the mend, Mahoney is able to resume most of her usual activities — and that includes joining her friends at St. Mary’s.
