They range in age from 7 to 10, but already members of Sarasota Girl Scout Troop 381 are tracking turtles.
On the morning of Aug. 17, 12 Girl Scouts and five adults attended a turtle-nest excavation with Longboat Key Turtle Watch members to learn how turtle watchers patrol. The Scouts are working toward their sea-turtle patch and will learn more about turtles later this year.
And, turtles aren’t the only animals this group is tracking. The troop will adopt Save Our Seabirds in September for a project.
