Isaiah Rand was 12 years old. A counselor introduced him to Beverly, 11, at a Camp Mohaph social, in Glen Spey, N.Y. They danced and probably drank a Coca-Cola or two, according to Isaiah Rand. They kept in touch and became a couple when they were 17.
And on Sunday, Aug. 23, the Rands will celebrate 60 years of marriage with a party at Spike ’N’ Tees. The party will take place two months before the couple’s actual anniversary date of Oct. 30, so that their four grandchildren, Emily and Gregory Adamson and Samantha and Jacob Rand, and their children, Ellen Adamson and Lawrence Rand, can attend.
Rand says that he and his wife don’t have any secret to staying married for 60 years.
“I guess we’re just lucky,” he says.
