Temple Beth Israel members have been plagued by too heavy doors for some time, but the problem was fixed two weeks ago.
The temple has member Nate Benderson to thank for the buttons both inside and outside that, when pushed, automatically open and close the doors. This allows for a virtually hands-free way to enter the temple.
The new system has been well-received, according to Temple Beth Israel Rabbi Jonathan Katz. Now, temple members have one less reason to be hesitant about coming to services, Katz jokes.
