On June 8, 2011, BJ Webb was at a bookstore looking for a book a grief counselor told her to read. A man, Dave Bishop, who was in the psychology aisle, asked if he could help. She told him she lost her husband in November 2009, and he replied that his wife died in August 2009. They had coffee, and 11 months and two-and-a-half weeks later he asked her to marry him. They spent time at their respective spouses’ memorial spots, Bob Twigg’s memorial tree and Joy Bishop’s memorial garden, this Memorial Day to honor their late spouses as they start their new journey together.
