The Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key recently received “Distinguished Club” status from Kiwanis International for its efforts during the 2011-12 year.
In recognition of the club’s efforts, the Kiwanis Florida District sent five distinguished pins to give to the members of the club’s choosing.
But members didn’t exactly jump at the opportunity for a distinguished Kiwanis pin. According to Kiwanian Richard Crawford, they’re lapel pins, and most of the club’s members have left their days of wearing suits behind them.
If any Kiwanians are interested in a lapel pin, just let Crawford know at a future meeting. He’s pretty sure they’re sitting in his trunk.
