+ Colonel Bustle is an honorable man
Dear Editor:
As a combat veteran I appreciate the piece you wrote about Colonel Bustle, a man I have the upmost respect for. Larry Bustle is one of the most honorable men I have ever met in my life.
Thank you for standing up and doing the right thing.

+ No new taxes just smoke and mirrors
Dear Editor:
I read with great interest the headlines in Thursday, June 7 edition of the East County Observer — County proposes no tax increases. As I continued to page 9A, all of a sudden the no increase in taxes becomes a 3% increase in the rate! Now if that is not an increase, I must be missing something. Let’s ask Ed Hunzeker and the Manatee County commissioners to take a 3% decrease in salary.
Now, mind you, because an increase of 3% is really not and increase, then the reciprocal being a 3% decrease would not really be seen as a decrease if we follow the same logic here.
Now really, Mr. Hunzeker, you should really consider going to work with David Copperfield — you know smoke and mirrors.
