  • With all the businesses that have closed in the past year I want to alert all the residents and vacationers on Longboat Key to a restaurant under new management that I will call a diamond in the rough. My husband and I dined at Re Federico on Sunday evening. It was a last minute decision and what an excellent decision it was. We started our meal off by sharing the Eggplant Parmigiana dish. It was one of the best I have had. For dinner my husband selected the their famous Lasagna which is served with a side salad. It was delicious! He finished it off and will be walking this morning. I selected the Tortellini Lobster with fresh lobster, shrimp in a pink sauce. It was light and I did not have the feeling of being stuffed when finished. Being raised in Philadelphia and be able to dine in the famous South Philadelphia area frequently this food is comparable to South Philly and any of the 5 star restaurants in Center City Philadelphia. We shared desert which you must do. It was to die for! They also serve breakfast and lunch and have Pizza available. Re Federico is located in Public Shopping Center complex. We don't have to drive to the North end to find an outstanding restaurant anyone. It is right here in our own back yard. Be warn - get over there now before the Snow Birds land. They are having a Valentine's Day Special. Call 941-383-1333 for details. Barbara Fox

  • I am a visitor for several months and come from a beach resort town in NJ. We had a similar wireless sigtnal transmiision problem to yours in that most people wanted cell phone access inside their buildings, especially vacationers, but the locals were against big towers on buildings to provide the services needed. We solved the problem with minimal intrusion and subsequent negative response from our citizens. This was almost 10 years ago when communication towers were large and cumbersome.
Today Longboat has the oppertunity to provide this service with minimal intrusion via flagpole type towers that look like a flagpole without a flag, very simple. I am tired of having to walk outside my condo to make a call and missinf many others. Please give this concept careful consideration so that all the people can have full use of their cell phones, Landlinnes are almost passe
