In an email sent to Mayor Jim Brown Nov. 18, District 2 commission candidate Gene Jaleski asks Mayor Jim Brown, “How long must the residents of Longboat Key suffer the current town lawyer?”
“It is past the time when the town needs to be put out of its legal miseries,” writes Jaleski, referencing the recent judgment that favored the Islandside Property Owners Coalition in regards to a town code challenge. “Too much bad legal advice has cost the taxpayers countless thousands of dollars and wasted years, from an unbroken string of land use court defeats, spanning decades.”
Brown responded by writing: “Since most of your accusations are either wrong or skewed I will not respond. Since you are apparently running for office again you can debate these issues when and if you'd agree to attend a debate.”
In response, Jaleski said “Being snide solves nothing.”
“This commission has created a legal mess that will take years to repair,” Jaleski wrote.

- Mr. Jaleski makes a valid point and should not be disrespected.

- Gene Jaleski needs to find a hole to crawl into and never come out. The best thing he ever did for the Town was to resign as commissioner. Let it stand as such.
