WEEKEND BEST BET: Longboat Key Gourmet Lawn Party
Date: November 16, 2012
by: Robin Hartill | City Editor
You’ll get the blues at tomorrow’s Longboat Key Gourmet Lawn Party.
That’s because Longboat Key blues group Blues Pig will perform at the event with special guest blues guitarist Steve Arvey from Chicago, who has toured throughout the world.
“I am very happy to help Kiwanis raise funds for local children,” Arvey wrote in an email to the Longboat Observer. “It is so great to see all of the local business's lending support and I am very excited to be a part of this event.”
The event has 29 participating restaurants, along with beverages courtesy of Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, Sysco, Premier Beverage, Coca-Cola and Southern Wine & Spirits, and will also feature flowers from Exotica Florist.
Luncheon tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Raffle tickets are $100. The grand prize winner will get his or her choice of $20,000 cash, $20,000 toward any vehicle at any of the five Sarasota-Manatee Gettel dealerships; or a $20,000 “Uncrowded Serengeti” safari package from Admiral Travel.
Luncheon and raffle tickets are available at Lazy Lobster, Ace Hardware, SunTrust Bank, Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce, BP Station and Barrier Island Realty on Longboat Key; Coldwell Banker, Edward Jones and Lynches Pub & Grub on St. Armands Circle; Bridge Street Bistro on Bradenton Beach; and the Observer Media Group in downtown Sarasota.
The event takes place from noon to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Longboat Key Club & Resort’s Islandside golf course.
