- The new homes on LKB are springing up everywhere. Three new homes are under construction in the village alone. There are probably four or five going up on GMD and at least two in Bay Isles. People are investing in our community. That is good. The commission needs to do more to boost the residential real estate market. Getting rid of property blight is essential along with reasonable changes to property maintenance and appearance. Parking boat trailers behind homes is probably a good thing for surrounding home values. But something really must be done about Whitney Plaza. How many times, and for how many years, must we hear "check's in the mail" before we enforce state statutes on blighted commercial property?
I have been preaching, for the past four years, the need for our community to market our town thome-buyersrs nationally aninternationallyly. We need to make ourselves be seen above the real estate sales clutter. This is best done by the town government and a qualified marketing expert with a great track record.
