The Longboat Key Historical Society has closed its museum at Whitney Beach Plaza.
The museum had operated out of the shopping center since late 2008.
The group will continue to hold activities, including its fish fry, lectures program and annual membership drive without a physical facility.
The Historical Society is in the process of digitizing its documents, photographs and other information that will be available at its website, longboatkeyhistory.com.
The group continues to seek materials related to Longboat Key history.
