Michael Welly’s last day as general manager of Longboat Key Club and Resort was Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Welly said that he, along with more than a dozen additional staffers, were terminated last week in what he described as “anticipated” following the announcement of Ocean Properties Ltd.’s plans to purchase the Key Club from Loeb Partners Realty Group, although Welly had planned for his last day to be Oct. 31.
The Longboat Observer was unable to immediately reach Ocean Properties Vice President Andy Berger for comment.
Welly served as the Key Club’s general manager since March 2004.

- Sorry to see Mr. Welly leave, he was a visionary.
IPOC, is next to go. The new boys are going to sweep them out of the way, and make the Key Club a resort of resorts.
