+ Town agendas can be viewed online
The town’s Management Information Systems department has created a new system that links all supporting material for Town Commission meeting agendas. Previously, all that was posted to the town’s Web site was the agenda document itself. Now, everything that the Town Commission receives is available to anyone who has access to the Internet.
Agendas can be found by accessing www.longboatkey.org, clicking on the Meetings and Minutes link and clicking on the Agenda tab.
+ Longboat adds new firefighters
Fire-Rescue Chief Rich Dickerson announced the addition of two new firefighter/paramedics last week.
Jason Coates, 30, of St. Petersburg, started his career with South Pasadena Fire Department in Pinellas County. Coates served four years with South Pasadena before taking a job offer with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Coates has been married for more than nine years and has two daughters, ages 4 and 7.
Curtis Griffin, 46, comes from South Florida and served in the United States Army in the parachute infantry before leaving to attend the fire academy in Broward County and EMT training at Miami Dade Community College. Griffin was employed at Broward County Fire EMS as a firefighter/EMT until he attended the paramedic program at Broward Community College in 1993. Griffin was with Broward County Fire for more than 20 years before moving to North Carolina. Griffin returned to Florida to be closer to his family in the Pinellas County area.
