Registration is currently open for the Longboat Key Education Center’s 2009-10 season. Students are encouraged to register for classes and programs as soon as possible.
The fall term begins Monday, Oct. 19. This fall’s schedule includes four new classes.
In “Nia — The Body’s Way,” students will learn Nia, a blend of yoga, martial arts and ethnic dance.
“Sages of Our Time” is a new spiritual film series in which students will view and discuss films and clips featuring Carl Jung, Thomas Merton, Joseph Campbell, Pema Chodrun and other figures with a unique spiritual perspective.
Kathie Moon and Frank Tucciarone, who lead the Education Center’s “You’ve Got to See This Movie!” discussion will teach a new course, “Off the Radar: Movies to Love if Only You Knew About Them!” which focuses on independent and festival films.
The fall schedule also includes “Yoga-Pilates,” a fusion class.
The Education Center will also feature its regular lineup, including yoga, bridge and saltwater-fishing classes.
The Education Center will also offer a winter term beginning Jan. 4, 2010, and a spring term beginning March 1, 2010.
Members and non-members can currently register by going to www.LBKeducationcenter.org and clicking on the registration page. In-person registration will be available beginning Monday, Oct. 12. Call 383-8811 for more information.
