Islandside Property Owners Coalition Chairman Bob White confirmed to The Longboat Observer that he is weighing a possible run for the Longboat Key Town Commission District 1 seat.
White said that he requested an information packet from the Town Clerk’s office two or three weeks ago.
“It is something that I have considered,” said White, noting that he would not make a decision until the fall.
White declined further comment.
Mayor Lee Rothenberg, who currently holds the District 1 seat, will vacate his seat via term limits next year.
White, 70, is a 15-year owner at L’Ambiance condominium. Originally from Kansas City, Mo., he is the former president and founder of a marketing services business.
As chairman of IPOC, White has publicly opposed the $400 million Longboat Key Club and Resort Islandside renovation project as proposed.
