Hurricane season began June 1, and you know the drill: It’s time for the Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce Hurricane Preparedness Seminar.
Registration begins at 5 p.m., and the seminar takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the Longboat Key Club and Resort Harbourside Dining Room, 3100 Harbourside Drive.
Longboat Key Fire-Rescue Chief Richard Dickerson, who was fire chief of Sanibel Island in 2004, when Hurricane Charley struck, and Public Works Projects Manager James Linkogle will speak. Sarasota County Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane and Manatee County Emergency Management Chief Laurie Feagans will also be on hand to answer questions.
And those who already have a hurricane plan in place still have a reason to attend. The first 100 people to register will get a free hurricane drink. The seminar will also feature hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Call 383-2466 for more information.
