The Longboat Key Club and Resort prepared to begin demolition of 14 of 18 Islandside tennis courts Monday, June 1, to make room for an information center, which will feature renderings for the $400 million Islandside renovation plan.
“People can actually see the project,” said Katherine Songster, public relations manager at the Key Club.
The 14 Islandside tennis courts closed Monday, May 18. The four west courts will remain open, along with the children’s play area and basketball court.
With the demolition, a total of 25 tennis courts will remain at the Key Club: 20 at the new Tennis Garden facility, one at the Key Club Moorings Marina and four at the Islandside resort.
