The Longboat Key Police Department will receive 11 automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) and accessories worth more than $16,300 through a donation from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The devices allow officers to provide life-saving assistance if a citizen goes into cardiac arrest.
The foundation is also donating more than $9,200 worth of equipment to West Manatee Fire Rescue that will be used to treat citizens and firefighters exposed to airborne contaminants.
