UPDATE: Longboaters attempting to get to downtown Sarasota or St. Armands Circle had more than an hour wait to deal with today, thanks to a faulty traffic light at Longboat Club Road, just before the New Pass Bridge.
Public Works Director Juan Florensa said it was discovered this afternoon the light wasn't working properly and it was reset at 4:30 p.m. today by a traffic engineer.
Since this morning, southbound traffic on Gulf of Mexico Drive was backed up sporadically all the way to the Bay Isles Parkway traffic light.
EARLIER: Longboaters attempting to get to downtown Sarasota or St. Armands Circle should plan for at least an hour delay.
Since this morning, traffic has been backed up sporadically heading southbound on Gulf of Mexico Drive all the way to the Bay Isles Parkway traffic light.
Public Works Director Juan Florensa said he’s not aware of any issues with the Longboat Club Road traffic light at the Longboat Key Club and Resort entrance.
“We will take a look and observe the traffic, but at this point I think it’s just Season and everyone should be prepared for extra traffic,” Florensa said.
