Bullock questions Manatee trolley funding request

A new year means another fight over how much money it will take to keep the Longboat Key trolley route operational on Longboat Key.
Town Manager Dave Bullock emailed the Longboat Key Town Commission Monday, Jan. 14, explaining he plans to meet with the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners to discuss the county’s annual funding request.
In the meantime, he’s ordered staff not to pay a $42,000 funding request for fiscal year 2011-12 and to hold off on another $42,000 funding request from the county for the current fiscal year.
Manatee County Public Works Director Ron Schulhofer sent a letter dated Jan. 7 to Finance Director Tom Kelley, requesting the town send a check for $42,000 to fund the Manatee County portion of the trolley route for fiscal year 2012-13.
