A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 29 marked the official presentation of two large seahorse sculptures at the entrance to the Seahorse Conservation Laboratory at Mote Marine. It was also the 50th anniversary celebration of the Ruden McClosky law firm, a major sponsor of the exhibit.

The Longboat Key Garden Club held its first meeting of the 2009-10 season Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Windward Bay clubhouse. Four campers who attended Camp Wekiva, in Wekiva Springs State Park, with the help of Garden Club scholarships spoke about their experiences. Then, Christine Wasley, of Gardening South, provided tips for winter gardening.
