The Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce held a “Networking for a Cause” event Nov. 4, at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort. Members were asked to bring a toy or holiday gift to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County.

The Longbeach Village Association gathered Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the home of Michael and Amy Drake for its monthly meeting and social. Longboat Key Club and Resort General Manager Michael Welly spoke to members about why they should support the Key Club's proposed $400 million expansion plan.

Gulf view returns

A landscaping crew began cutting the sea grapes in front of the Twin Shores and Gulfshore of Longboat Key mobile-home parks Monday, Nov. 2. Residents and motorists anticipate the end of October each year, because they get their view of the Gulf of Mexico back. The sea grapes grow tall each summer during sea-turtle nesting season, which runs from May 31 through the end of October.
