Angels were everywhere at the first every Holiday Angel Bazaar at Longboat Island Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 19. From ornaments to angel-themed books to 'angels' serving breakfast and hand-made soup to hungry shoppers. This Christmas, lucky recipients of bazaar goods will receive hand-knit sweaters, handmade jewelry, baked goods, note cards, watercolor paintings, signed books, framed poetry and holiday decorations.

More than 1,000 tickets were sold for the Nov. 19 Longboat Key Gourmet Lawn Party, which benefited St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Longboat Key Kiwanis Foundation.

The women of St Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church worked like elves to prepare for their annual holiday Bazaar and the day finally came on Saturday, Nov. 19. Baked goods, jewelry, and fully-decorated trees were just some of the items people will be exchanging for Christmas this year, thanks to the St. Mary Women.

Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society unveils it's 'Open Aqueous and Signature Show' at the opening reception on Friday, Nov. 18 at Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design. The Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society consists of 200 members of 7 coastal counties and many of the members were present at the opening.

Maison Blanche hosted a tasting and sampling celebrating Féte du Beaujolais Nouveau on Thursday, Nov. 18. It is a red wine made from gamay grapes from the region of Beaujolais in France. It is harvested for only a few weeks before drinking, and it only keeps through the holiday.

Yesterday, people around the world celebrated Féte du Beaujolais Nouveau, a red wine from France only corked on the third Thursday of November. Maison Blanche had its own tasting.

The Promenade hosted a welcome back Luau for its members on Wednesday, Nov. 16. They served chicken and shrimp kabobs, grilled veggies, rice, rolls and fruit sushi. Alma Kraman celebrated her 91 birthday at the event.
