Longboat Key Turtle Watch will excavate a turtle nest tonight that hatched earlier this week — and it could be the last public nest excavation of the season.
The excavation will take place at 6:45 p.m. tonight at the Gulfside beach at 4725 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Parking is available at the public beach access at 4795 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
Only two more nests remain. Both nests were washed over, therefore, might not hatch, which is why this could be the last evening excavation of the year.
