Former Circle association president takes on new role

Cheryl Whitten, former owner of ScoopDaddy's, resigned from her position as St. Armands Circle Association president Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Cheryl Whitten resigned from her role as president of the St. Armands Circle Association Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the group’s monthly membership meeting. But she didn’t say goodbye. She has now assumed a paid position as assistant for the St. Armands Circle Association.
Andrew Vac, former vice president of the association and broker/owner of Re/Max Excellence, is the new president.
Whitten sold her St. Armands ice-cream store, ScoopDaddy’s, in April, but continued to serve as president of the association.
“Fortunately, it is a win-win situation,” Whitten said. “I have gone full circle.”

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
