Employees of Water Works, of Bradenton, installed a new irrigation system today at the Longboat Key Garden Club’s butterfly garden at Bicentennial Park.
The new, automatic drip system will allow the garden to comply with watering restrictions without requiring volunteers to water plants.
“We just wanted to make sure we were watering in the most efficient way,” said Jackie Salvino, Garden Club president.
The $550 project was funded through donations and the Garden Club’s annual “Home & Garden Tour.”
Garden Club members meet at 2 p.m. the first Friday of every month to maintain the butterfly garden. Salvino said volunteers are needed.
For information, contact Salvino at 383-1406. Donations for the butterfly garden can be sent to P.O. Box 8375, Longboat Key, Fla., 34228.
