When the Longboat Key Garden Club signed up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army for two full days, Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key member Jim Burmeister, who is in charge of organizing the bell-ringing campaign, was relieved. There was a garden club carol of the bells from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4, and another will be held Dec. 11. The club hopes to help the contents of the red kettle grow!
