+ Key Club’s Tennis Gardens wins USTA facility award
The Tennis Gardens at the Longboat Key Club and Resort was named one of 12 winners of the 28th annual United States Tennis Association Outstanding Facility Awards Program, the USTA announced last week in a press release.
The awards recognize excellence and/or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country. The Tennis Gardens is the only private facility in the state that will be honored in the 2009 USTA Outstanding Facility Awards Program.
The Key Club unveiled the $4.5 million Tennis Gardens facility in March. The complex has 20 Har-Tru courts with a state-of-the-art HydroGrid irrigation system, five lighted courts for night play, a tennis concierge to arrange matches and organize group events, Court 21 Café and Lounge, a pro shop and more. The Tennis Gardens stadium seats 500 people, but seats can be added to an adjacent court to seat up to 2,500 people.

Every Tuesday through Oct. 13, the Colony restaurants will offer 40% off its private-label wines to celebrate the restaurants’ 40th anniversary. The Colony recently received its 26th consecutive Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. For information, call 383-5558.
+ Pattigeorge’s is going green for specials
Pattigeorge’s Restaurant will reimburse any patron who rides to the restaurant on the trolley from the surrounding barrier islands this summer. Just give your fare receipt to the hostess or server, and you will be reimbursed the $1 fare each way. And don’t forget arrive by boat Mondays — guests who arrive by boat receive a complimentary bottle of house champagne.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
