ShelCidy Custom Remodeling Inc. owner Dewey Brannon knows that inconveniences come with remodeling. So he strives to keep disruptions to a minimum. He tries to find a point of entry that won’t interfere with a person’s activity. He keeps work sites as neat as possible. And he offers a transparent contract so that customers are aware of all costs up front.
“I’m tearing up someone’s house,” Brannon said. “We try to make that experience as pleasant as possible.”
Brannon opened ShelCidy in November 2001 with a single employee. Since then, the company has expanded to include three employees, and Brannon hopes to add one or two staff members over the next year.
Although ShelCidy is based in Nokomis, many of its projects take place on Longboat Key. Brannon hopes to relocate his headquarters to central Sarasota within the next year to be closer to his company’s projects.
The recession has been a challenge for Brannon, because fewer customers are remodeling their homes. To adjust, Brannon is more focused than ever on networking, but the focus of his work hasn’t changed.
“Our bread and butter is remodeling,” Brannon said. “We’re not doing anything different.”
