Longboat Key Financial celebrates new services

The former Longboat Key Financial Group has a new name and new services. The 29-year-old company, now known as Longboat Key Financial & Insurance Group, celebrated its new partnership with Insurance Services of Central Florida Thursday, May 28, outside its office at 6350 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Suite 101. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was co-sponsored by the Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce.
Longboat Key Financial & Insurance Group now offers auto, homeowners and commercial insurance in addition to its previously existing health-insurance and life-insurance coverage and financial-planning services.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
