+ Bay Area Auctions sells equipment from former Longboat Key Liquors
Bay Area Auctions held an auction Thursday, May 21 to sell the equipment from the former Longboat Key Liquors. Owner Andrew Hlywa moved the contents of the liquor store into Whitney Beach Deli and Wines, which he opened in February.
Approximately 100 people attended the auction.
“It was a very successful auction,” Hlywa said.
+ Marina’s introduces clients to new anti-aging and renourishment products
Saturday, May 23 was spa day for some customers at Marina’s Face, Body & Nail Care, 3172 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Marina’s has been chosen as the exclusive Longboat Key spa to offer Klapp beauty products and treatment options, including anti-aging and renourishment products. Last Saturday, customers were treated to a complimentary breakfast and free facials, so that Klapp representatives could teach the staff at Marina’s about their treatments.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition β Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull β and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book βGone Girl,β by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
