Longboat Key Police Chief Al Hogle has hired another police officer.

On Thursday, Dec. 17, Hogle hired police officer Robert Bourque, who previously served six years as a city of Tampa officer and seven years as a Manatee County Sheriff officer. Borque is also a fully trained Special Weapons and Tactics officer and a former narcotics detective.

The news comes on the heels of two other police hires.

On Monday, Nov. 30, the department hired officer John Thomas, who previously served 22 years as a police officer and a detective at the Bradenton Police Department.

And on Tuesday, Dec. 15, Hogle announced that officer Monica Quarmby has accepted a fulltime position with the department. Quarmby has been working in a part-time capacity at the department since October 1, 2007. Quarmby previously worked for the Sarasota Police Department for 25 years and retired as a sergeant.

The new hires replace vacated positions previously held by Ed Jackson, Steve Roehl and Pati Beardsley.

If Town Manager Bruce St. Denis decides not to rehire fired police officer Jessica Anderson next year, Hogle will fill that vacant position as well.
