Country Club Shores resident Lynn Larson has qualified for the District 1 commission seat, according to Town Clerk Trish Granger.

The qualification confirms the town will hold a preliminary election on Jan. 26 because there are now three candidates running for the seat.

Mayor Lee Rothenberg qualified for a fourth term for his District 1 seat last week. Rothenberg, who was scheduled to vacate office in March 2010, now can serve seven years and five months of service if he’s elected this March.

Country Club Shores resident Lee Pokoik is also a qualified commission candidate for the same seat.

A runoff election has not been held at Town Hall since March 1989, according to Town Clerk Trish Granger.

  • Do we really want Rothenberg as a Commissioner for 7 years and 5 months?
Since he never ran against anyone previously the voters will finally be able to decide if he should continue in office.
