WEEKEND BEST BET: 34th Annual Holiday Night of Lights

Santa Claus is coming to St. Armands Circle at tonight’s 34th Annual Holiday Night of Lights.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. tonight with a Christmas Carol sing-along, followed by a Santa parade led by the Wells Fargo stage coach and the arrival of Santa in his sleigh.
Upon the arrival of the jolly old man, the Circle will light up during its annual tree-lighting ceremony.
Santa Claus will be available for photographs throughout the evening.
The evening will feature entertainment and specials at many businesses throughout the Circle.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
