Longboat Key Management Information Services Director Kathi Pletzke has been awarded the designation of Certified Chief Information Officer through the Institute of Government at Florida State University.
The award was the culmination of a yearlong endeavor for Pletzke and involved 240 hours of coursework.
The program is designed for those who are or wish to be in an executive technology leadership position.
Participants are required to complete 88 hours of in-class work, 80 hours of out-of-class work and a 72-hour capstone project.
All work is peer reviewed by program mentors and Florida Local Government Public Technology Leadership Council.
As part of the continuing education requirement, Pletzke is serving as a mentor in the program to an information technology manager at the city of Sarasota, who is seeking to obtain his own certification.
“Kathi Pletzke’s dedication to her personal and professional development and her desire to go over-and-above the requirements for her position demonstrates the type of professionalism that is encouraged in our town staff,” said Town Manager Bruce St. Denis in a prepared statement. “Her achievement is also indicative of the support the town provides those who are willing to commit their time and talent to better provide superior service to our Town and its citizens.”
