Whitney Beach Plaza’s ownership has been modified and a $2 million renovation overhaul is in the works for the aging and mostly vacant shopping center eyesore on the north tip of Longboat Key.
While a recent transaction shows that a former Whitney Plaza limited liability corporation was sold to a new corporation called Whitney Plaza LLC for $3.64 million, one of the plaza’s partners said the transaction was not a sale and was more about bringing in a new investment partner that can help bring about the plaza’s revitalization.
“This was just about bringing in a new partner,” said Rich Juliani, principal of the Boston-based JKI Investment Capital LLC, which owns the plaza along with a new Bradenton attorney that’s made an undisclosed investment in the property.
Bradenton attorney Ryan Snyder, along with Juliani, have pulled permits for a $2 million complete renovation of the plaza and already have plans for a liquor store and other interested tenants. Permits for some of the work have already been pulled at the Planning, Zoning and Building Department and a new roof is expected to be put on parts of the plaza starting next week.
