+ Thanksgiving holiday trash schedule affected
There will be no town trash collection on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22. The alternate garbage pickup will be Friday, Nov. 23, and trash should be curbside by 7 a.m. that morning. There will be no change in the Wednesday, Nov. 21 yard-waste collection or the Monday, Nov. 26 solid-waste and recycling collection.
Town Hall and its various departments will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

• General Employees; Pension Board Quarterly Meeting — 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28.
• Firefighters’ Pension Board Quarterly Meeting — 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28.
• Town Commission Regular Meeting — 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3.
All meetings take place at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, unless otherwise noted.

Youth sailors descend on City Island

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
