Lena Lemon and Ken Schwartz are the owners of the new Crossover Cutters at 5620 Gulf of Mexico Drive, the former location of Manny’s Barber Shop and Boone’s Barber Shop.
Lemon and Schwartz recently moved to the area from Kalamazoo, Mich. Lemon provides men’s and women’s haircuts, including razor-cutting and coloring, while Schwartz focuses on traditional barbershop services.
According to Schwartz, he and Lemon named the business “Crossover Cutters” in part because they are crossing over, offering hairstyling in what used to be solely a barbershop.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments are available outside of normal business hours. Crossover Cutters also will make house calls for homebound customers.
In their free time, Lemon and Schwartz play in Crossover, a Christian band that they hope to expand.
“It’s a crossover between different musical backgrounds,” Schwartz said. “Lena is more jazz and rock, but I’m more country/folk rock.”
