The Longboat Key Garden Club Grants Committee has awarded $2,000 for a workshop that will train Sarasota County employees and New College of Florida environmental students in rapid response to eradicate invasive pythons, particularly Burmese pythons.
Dr. Margaret Lowman, director of environmental initiatives at New College, will spearhead the workshop, which will bring in trainers and staff members from The Nature Conservancy and Dade County organizing students to assist with and learn from the program.
