Mayor declares November pancreatic cancer awareness month

Sarasota Mayor Dick Clapp declared November Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month at the city commission meeting Monday, Nov. 2.
Clapp presented the proclamation to Nancy Flemming, founder of the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation, and Jay Lockaby, executive director of The Wellness Community of Southwest Florida.
The Fifth Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Walk, also founded by Flemming, a Longboat Key resident, will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at J.D. Hamel Park, in Sarasota. Button pins will be available to participants who have lost a relative or friend to pancreatic cancer.
