P&Z does not recommend Moore's zoning change
Date: October 20, 2009

Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant & Marina owner Alan Moore said his 43-year-old business will shut down unless the town approves a request to change the zoning of the property on which the eatery sits.
But the majority of the town’s Planning and Zoning Board, in a 6-2 vote, decided not to recommend Moore’s request to have his property at 800 Broadway changed from commercial to residential use at its Tuesday, Oct. 20 regular meeting.
If Moore can’t get the Town Commission to approve his request later this year, he says he won’t be able to renegotiate his business’s double-digit interest-rate loans due in January.
At its Tuesday, Oct. 20 regular meeting, the Planning and Zoning Board also:
• Approved a request by Dry Dock Waterfront Grill owner Eric Hammersand to increase its outdoor dining from 115 seats to 150 seats after 5 p.m. only by utilizing parking flexibilities.
• Approved a request by The Longboat Key Club and Resort to allow for outdoor dining at the Harbourside Tennis Gardens snack bar/café during operating hours of the indoor facility.
• Postponed a discussion of the town’s tree code until planning board Chairwoman B.J. Webb could be in attendance.
