It’s the fishiest fundraiser of the year.
The Longboat Key Historical Society Old Time Fish Fry begins at 5 p.m. tonight, with dinner served from 6 to 8 p.m., at Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub, 760 Broadway.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the following locations: First Bank of Longboat Key, 5390 Gulf of Mexico Drive; Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce, 5570 Gulf of Mexico Drive; Steff's Stuff, 5380 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Suite 101; or at the door.
Cost is $30 and includes your choice of grouper and mullet, along with all the other fish fry favorites, two drinks and entertainment by Blues Pig. Raffle tickets will be available for various prizes.

Approximately 250 people hit the water Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 21, for Sailfest. The regatta, Sarasota Youth Sailing's biggest fundraiser of the year, included four classes of competition — Optimus, 420, Laser and Multi-hull — and a barbecue feast. -
Book club sunsets for the season

The Sunset Beach Book Club, in its 10th year, ended this season with a luncheon and discussion of the book “Gone Girl,” by Gillian Flynn, April 18, at Lazy Lobster. Discussion moderator was Ricki Carroll. Together, the group read five books this season.
