Shirley Erickson, 61, of Longboat Key, died Saturday, Oct. 16.
Born April 27, 1949, in Chicago, she attended Main West High School, in Des Plaines, Ill., and graduated from Bradley University, in Peoria, Ill., with a degree in elementary education and taught school for nine years. She spent the last 12 years as office manager at European Marble in Sarasota.
Mrs. Erickson enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, boating, skiing, reading and crossword puzzles. She was a past member of the Longboat Key Planning and Zoning Board and Junior League of Sarasota.
Mrs. Erickson is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bill; sons David and Christopher, both of Sarasota; sister, Marilyn, of Bradenton; and one grandchild.
A service will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian, 595 Bay Isles Road, Suite 220.

Shirley was probably one of the most genuine people ive ever met in my lilfe. She carried herself with a very positive and layed back attitude.
I have never seen her mad , and she always had somethine nice to say about whom ever she surrounded. Ill always remember you and how kind you always were to me and everyone that i have seen u with.
Billy you were very luck to have such a wonderful person in your life!

- I meet Shirley over 25 years ago. She was always very kind and open hearted person and always had a smile for everyone. She was a loving wife and a great mother who did raise 2 great sons.
We will miss you forever and our prayers are with you, Bill, Dave & Chris.
