The goal of the Longboat Key Club’s Islandside Redevelopment Plan Town Hall meeting is to give those voices that haven’t been heard a chance to discuss the plan.
“We want anyone there who is on the fence or has questions,” Longboat Key Club Public Relations Manager Katherine Songster said.
The meeting will begin with a 15-minute presentation by Key Club General Manager Michael Welly. A panel discussion moderated by Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce President Tom
Aposporos will follow. Panelists will include north-Key registered voter Bill Kary and mid-Key registered voter
Terry Gans, Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub owner Ed Chiles, Longboat Key Kiwanis Club President Vince De Lisi and former Longboat Key Holiday Inn executive Carole Nikla.
“Given these times and recent events on Longboat Key, this project may be one of the most important events of our time,” Aposporos said.

- Bob, if your concerns regarding the proposed Islandside re-development are truly a burning issue for you, then let your voice be heard without regard to who sponsors the forum or where it is located. Remember, silence is deemed consent. If, on the other hand, you're just sport grousing as a cure for boredom, you may step aside and let others lead.

- A "Town Hall" meeting hosted by the Key Club and moderated by a panel of commercial interests purporting to provide an opportunity for "people who haven't been heard" to discuss the plan. What could possibly be more fair or or non-biased? Why not just call it a promotional event for the Club's expansion proposal, e.g. what it is?
