After 24 years on St. Armands Circle, Hemingway’s Retreat is closing its doors, but it may not be closed for long.
The Key West-themed restaurant’s lease ended, and landlord John Meshan did not want owners John Georgi and Perry Tennell to renew.
“Things happen,” said Tennell.
Hemingway’s has been on the Circle since 1986. Tennell said he and Georgi are considering a few other locations including on the Circle and in downtown Sarasota.
However, the restaurant may not keep the Hemingway’s name and brand.
“We haven’t decided yet,” Tennell said.
