Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key President Robert Tucker wrote a letter dated Aug. 26 to Town Manager Bruce St. Denis requesting permission to use the town’s new welcome signs to post meeting information.
“The Kiwanis Clubs throughout the United States in every city and town have the Kiwanis logo, the meeting place, meeting date and meeting time of the weekly meeting prominently posted somewhere in the entry way of each and every community they are located in,” Tucker wrote. “Therefore, the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key respectfully requests the Town Commission permit our club to use the town of Longboat Key’s welcome signs at both the south and north end of the island for the purpose of posting our Kiwanis Club informational sign.”
Tucker said the group also would be asking the Longboat Key Club and Resort for permission to post an informational sign at the Harbourside north entrance because its meeting is held weekly at the Grille Room on Harbourside Drive.
The town’s former welcome signs included the Kiwanis information Tucker is requesting.
